Taconite man accused of bail violation

A Taconite man made an appearance in Itasca County District Court on Tuesday for allegedly violating his bail conditions.

Kevin John Leclair, 53, was in court for reportedly violating his bail conditions by testing positive for drugs.

Leclair has been charged with one count of controlled substance crime in the fifth degree and one count of sale of synthetic cannabinoids. Authorities said these charges are based on a continuing investigation conducted by the Itasca County Sheriff’s Office that ended in a search warrant being performed by at Leclair’s home on June 26.

Officers arrested Leclair, along with David Vincent Thrasher, 61, and found about 3.5 pounds of synthetic marijuana, 30 Adderall pills and methamphetamine residue.

Due to the alleged violation, the court demanded Leclair’s bail be increased to $150,000 without conditions and $100,000 with conditions formerly established by the court.

Leclair is scheduled to make another court appearance on Monday.
