Superior man accused of producing child porn

A Superior man accused of producing child pornography made his initial appearance in federal court Monday.

Roger Aleshire, 49, is charged with using a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing a visual depiction of such conduct. A federal grand jury in the Western District of Wisconsin, sitting in Madison, returned the indictment against Aleshire Wednesday.  It alleges that on Jan. 27 he used a phone to produce child pornography.

Aleshire was originally charged with the offense in a complaint filed in U.S. District Court on July 11. He made an initial appearance in federal court in Madison Monday.

If convicted, Aleshire faces a mandatory minimum penalty of 15 years and a maximum penalty of 30 years in federal prison. The charge against him is the result of an investigation by the Superior Police Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation.
