Bill Majewski and Jill DiDomenico with the St. Louis River Alliance will present an update on sturgeon recovery efforts, which are closely tied to improving the St. Louis River.

The St. Louis River is one of the designated areas of concern in the Great Lakes region — areas polluted by the past common practice of dumping untreated waste on land and water. A major concern with the St. Louis River is the resulting degraded fish and harm to wildlife populations. Progress to increase populations of native fish species such as sturgeon will help address the larger problems, according to the St. Louis River Alliance.

The luncheon starts at 11:30 a.m. in the conference room of Mr. D’s Bar & Grill, 5622 Grand Ave. in West Duluth. The cost of the luncheon is the cost of lunch off the menu. E-mail wdbc1902@gmail.com to reserve a spot.
