St. Cloud rocks the bats against Duluth
Robert Youngdahl was 4-for-4 at the plate and Clay Ardeeser singled in two runs to cap a four-run third inning in the St. Cloud Rox’s 7-4 win over the Duluth Huskies in Northwoods League baseball action Saturday night before 1,296 fans at Wade Stadium.
Youngdahl scored two runs and drove in a pair as well for the Rox (8-4), who remained in second place behind Eau Claire in the North Division. Mitchell Kranson added two hits and two RBIs.
St. Cloud starting pitcher Austin Caspersen scattered eight hits and struck out four in eight innings before Duluth (5-6) rallied for three runs off reliever Chad Hockin in the ninth.
Huskies starter Sean Poppen was touched for seven hits and six runs in six innings of work.
Keach Ballard was 3-for-4 and Trent Chatterton added a pair of hits, including a two-run single in the ninth.
