Triathlon fundraiser:The first annual Ka-bike-a-Run Triathlon is 8 a.m. Saturday in Cotton. The triathlon consists of a 1½-mile kayak, 2½-mile run and 3-mile mountain bike. It is being held in conjunction with the Cotton Days town celebration. Funds raised will go to a scholarship in memory of TyLeen Weber, a South Ridge sophomore who died May 8, 2013, from injuries suffered in an ATV accident. Cost: $35 for individuals or $75 for teams. Golf scramble: he Denfeld Junior Football League Golf Scramble begins at 10 a.m. Saturday at Enger Park Golf Course. Four-person teams cost $75 per person, which includes 18 holes of golf with a cart, a raffle and steak dinner to follow at Players Sports Bar at 4024 Grand Ave. in Duluth. Brule run: he 15th annual Brule River Lions Run begins at 9 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, featuring a 2- and 5-mile race. The races begin at the Afterhours Ski Trail off U.S. Highway 2 in Brule. Entry fee: $12 for pre-registered racers and $15 on race day. Registration on race day begins at 7:30 a.m.
Youth soccer:Registration is now open for the Duluth-Vaxjo Sister City Soccer Exchange. Boys and girls who will be U15 soccer players for summer 2015 are encouraged to apply.
