College track and field: A trio of St. Scholastica athletes took home Upper Midwest Athletic Conference honors at last week’s league meet. Junior Laurel Ohaju of Duluth was named top women’s athlete after finishing first in both the 200- and 400-meter races and participating on the team’s victorious 1,600 relay; senior Becky Huberty was named the top field athlete for winning both the shot put and hammer throw events; sophomore Jeremy Peterson of Hermantown was named the top men’s field athlete after he claimed all three of the throwing events (shot put, hammer and discus). Saints coach Kirk Nauman was voted the league’s Coach of the Year on both the men’s and women’s side.
Baseball: Superior author Tim Bouvine, along with his publisher, Savage Press, will host a book launch from 1-4 p.m. Saturday at Vintage Italian Pizza in Superior.
