Shirley D. Hodgson, 86 of Duluth, passed away Aug. 16, 2014 at St. Luke's Hospice. She died of pancreatic cancer after several months suffering in the company of her close family.
Shirley was born June 8, 1928.
In her long and happy life, she was a daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. She was devoted to God and family. To her, living meant reaching out to people, forming lifelong friendships and touching countless lives in her homes in Chicago, Minocqua, Duluth and elsewhere. She also enjoyed an active career as a dental hygienist and served and led both church choirs and school boards. If anything, her retirement years were even more active.
Survived by loving husband of 62 years, Richard; son, David (Janeice DeLisle) Hodgson; daughter, Elizabeth (Kevin) Carey; grandchildren, Honor and Prosper Hodgson, Adrienne, Steven, Emily, and Michael Carey; sister, Nancy (Charles) Scheer; and sister-in-law, Margaret Schultz.
VISITATION: 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Memorial Service, Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014 in the Elsing Chapel at Lakeshore, 4004 London Rd. in Duluth.
