Sunday, March 30

Divers inspect the rudder post bolts on the U.S. Coast Guard cutter Katmai Bay on Saturday where it was moored by the DECC in Duluth. The U.S. Coast Guard cutter Morro Bay had five of its six huge bolts loosen or break off as a result of ice. The Morro Bay was towed to Duluth from Thunder Bay, Ontario, on Friday by the U.S. Coast Guard cutter Alder. The thick lake ice has slowed the spring shipping season, and no further traffic is expected in Duluth until Wednesday.
