Ronald Allan Mathieu


Ronald Allan Mathieu passed away suddenly on May 16, 2014, at the cabin on Round Lake in Tamarack.

Ron was born July 14, 1944, in Duluth. He graduated from Denfeld High School in 1962. Ron served with the Army National Guard and retired from Target after 36 years. After retirement he worked part-time at Skyline Bowling Lanes for nine years, which he really enjoyed.

His favorite pastimes were spending time with his grandson, Talen, bowling at Skyline, playing horseshoe, playing cribbage with his bowling buddies at the Black Jack Grill in Wright and spending summers at the cabin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Virginia, Bev and Janice; brothers-in-law Bob Gronseth and Bob Cooper; father-in-law James R. Vest; sister-in-law Phoebe Vest; and niece Diana (Vest) Kishel.

Ron is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary; son Ryan (Ann); grandson Talen; dog Ryker; mother-in-law Margie Vest; brothers-in-law James R. Vest Jr., Edward (Carolyn) Vest, Tom Vest, Edward Goldspring and Len Sojka; sisters-in-law Dorothy Goldspring and Sherrie Vest; special friends Al and Lynette Norman and Bill Ahiers; many nieces and nephews; and many friends he considered family.
