Robert S. Johnson, 83, of Virginia passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at the Virginia Care Center.

He was born on April 15, 1931 to August and Emma (Grundstrom) Johnson in Parkville Location to Mountain Iron and had lived their until moving to Virginia in 1996.

Bob married Joanne Glowaski on Sept. 13, 1958 in Virginia; and retired from U.S. Steel as a millwright after 38 1/2 years of service.

He was a member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church of Virginia; American Legion Post 220 of Mountain Iron; the Cribbage Club of Parkville and the Parkville Community Club. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents and eight brothers, Clifford, Henry, Raymond, Chester, Kenneth, Elwood, Donald and Wilbert.

He is survived by his wife Joanne Johnson of Virginia; three children, Jim (Barb) Johnson of Virginia, Lois (Stephen) Roskoski of Virginia and Craig Johnson of Mountain Iron; four grandchildren, Kyle (Alex) Roskoski of Fayal Township, Damon Johnson, Jacob Roskoski and Jeb Johnson, all of Virginia; one sister, Shirley Johnson of Blaine, Minn., and numerous nieces and nephews.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2014 in Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Virginia with Pastor Nathan Sager officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service in the church. Inurnment, with military rites accorded by Mountain Iron American Legion Post 220 Color Guard, will be in the Veteran's Section of Greenwood Cemetery in Virginia. Arrangements are with the Landmark Funeral Home of Virginia.
