Robert "Butch" Levinski passed away peacefully in his Island Lake home in Cromwell on July 2, 2014.

He was born in Cloquet Minn., to Louis and Verna Levinski on Oct. 28, 1951.

He was a graduate of Cloquet high school. Shortly after he joined the Air Force and served four years including a brief stint in Vietnam. After the military service, he worked in construction as a welder and pipe fitter. Eventually he went to work at Potlatch Corp in Cloquet where he earned a master steam fitter license and went on to become a supervisor in the maintenance department, until his retirement. He loved his lake home where he lived for the past 20 years. He enjoyed a special relationship with his lake neighbors and many people in the surrounding area who he considered his extended family. He enjoyed his daily walks to town, stopping to visit at the nursing home and meeting with friends, feeding the birds, riding the pontoon and was always willing to help out anyone who needed a hand. He preferred warm weather and spent several winters in Florida, but health issues and his strong friendships in Cromwell made it more comfortable to remain at home the last few years. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Butch was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his children, Cara (Jay) Lahti and Jacob Levinski; one brother, Michael (Kathleen) Levinski; one sister, Judith Timmer; six grandchildren, Zachary, Ryan, Kyle, Cayden, NZ, and OE; and one nephew, Anthony.
