Riku William Korpi, 40, of Grand Rapids passed away Sunday, May 4, 2014 in St. Lukes Hospital, Duluth.

Riku was born on Aug. 31, 1973 to William and Bonita Korpi in Duluth.

Riku was raised in Esko and graduated from Esko High School in 1992. After high school he worked in landscaping for Hammerland Nursery. Later he received his CDL at Lake Superior College and was a truck driver for Upper Lakes Foods.

He loved spending time outdoors, fishing, hunting, and camping, especially with his son Noah.

Riku was preceded in death by his father, William Korpi.

He is survived by his sons, Noah age 13, of Alma, Wis., and Baxter age two, of Pike Lake; daughter, Annika age four, of Pike Lake; mother, Bonita Korpi, of Esko; brother, Taavi (Amanda) Korpi, of Duluth; sister, Anna (Michael Appleton) Korpi, of Duluth; uncles, Keith Seppala of Esko, and Leon Seppala of St. Paul; aunt, Nancy Seppala of Esko; niece, Maija Korpi; nephew, Milo Korpi; and many cousins and friends.
