RICHARD "DICK" J. FREY

Richard "Dick" J. Frey, 90, a life-long Duluth resident, died on July 12, 2014.

Richard Jay "Dick" Frey was born June 23, 1924, to Oscar and Wilma (Linder) Frey in Duluth.

He grew up in Duluth where he attended public school. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and received a Purple Heart. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Duluth and began work with the Soo Line Railroad. He was united in marriage to June A. Paulson on Jan. 24, 1959. He retired in 1984, after 35 years with the railroad.

He was a member of the Duluth American Legion Post No. 71, V.F.W. Post No. 137 and Moose Lodge No. 1478. Dick enjoyed steelhead fishing, hunting and treasured time spent in his earlier years at their family cabin "Breeze-O-Pines" on Eagle's Nest Lake. He loved all animals, especially his Boston Terriers - Maggie and Dolly.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, June; brother, William Frey and sister-in-law Nancy Frey.

Dick is survived by his son, Mark (Karen) Frey of Duluth; step-daughter, Terrie (Rick) Killian of Duluth; granddaughters, Olivia and Maria Frey; grandson, Scott (Kelly) Killian; great-granddaughter, Alexandra Killian; two nephews and his beloved companion dog Dolly.
