News of note

The winners of the Lake Superior Writers 2014 writing contest are:

* Andrea Northwood of Grand Marais for her poem, “Home.”

* David Schultz of Duluth for his short story, “Tourist at a Funeral.”

* James Brakken of Cable, Wis., for his short-short story, “Time and the River.”

* Dianna Hunter of Duluth for her creative nonfiction work titled “The Dead Cow and the Great Man.”

Each winner received $250 and read from their work May 18 at the Literary Celebration at the Underground Theater. To read their work, go to lakesuperiorwriters.org/2014-writing-contest/.
