2014 National Indie Excellence Awards recognized “Jackpine Savages” by Duluth author T.K. O’Neill in the category of crime fiction as a finalist in this year’s competition. This national award is open to all English language books in print from small, medium, university, self and independent publishers. “Jackpine Savages,” published by Bluestone Press which was established in 1999 in Duluth, is about novice private investigator Carter Brown. Thanks to an inheritance and a mail-order P.I. diploma, Brown realized his boyhood dream and takes on his first case. The book is set on the North Shore of Lake Superior.
