Reader's view: Zoo still draws a crowd
I am writing regarding the June 25 story, “City wants zoo to set new course,” especially its statement that, “Zoo attendance is down since the 2012 flood ravaged the facility.”
As a volunteer at the Lake Superior Zoo on these cold, damp, rainy days, I am amazed how many people visit the zoo. On a recent Tuesday I met a couple on their honeymoon, another fellow from London and families. Zoo attendance might be down, but the zoo still is drawing people, and I would suggest guests check out what is happening at the zoo. Docents are in Griggs Center, there are birthday parties and the “Zoomobile,” and volunteer staff mans the barnyard and interpretive carts.
I support our Lake Superior Zoo.
