Reader's view: There’s no need to delay medical marijuana
I read the News Tribune’s May 8 “Our View” editorial, “Let time run out on medical marijuana.” It called for the delay of the medical marijuana law in Minnesota. Why delay? The state Legislature has enough time to pass this law.
Yes, lawmakers have other issues pending before them that they need to get done, but why delay a bill that will help families across the state of Minnesota and a bill in the Senate that has law enforcement support, a key component for Gov. Mark Dayton’s signature.
Yes, time is running out for the Legislature to get its work done, but surely lawmakers can roll up their sleeves and put in the long hours and pass this bill. Failure to do so will mean more pain and suffering for families. The Legislature would do well to ignore the News Tribune’s editorial and instead pass this common-sense legislation.
