Reader's view: Story on cancer survivor was inspiring
I found the March 14 story about Jessica Mendez Jeffers, headlined, “Repeat cancer survivor knows value of support,” to be inspiring and informative.
As a former ovarian cancer patient and 13-year survivor, I had little support because I had just moved here from the West Coast and only knew a few people. I had undergone several days of chemotherapy and watched my toenails and three fingernails turn black and striped.
I, too, was a student at the University of Minnesota Duluth in the 1990s, but the cancer wasn’t discovered until after I graduated in 1999. Thanks to the grace of God and the professional staff at St. Mary’s Medical Center, I have been functioning normally since then.Keep on trucking, Jessica. You can do it!Faith DuVallDuluth
