Reader's view: Schultz understands the complexities of health care
The rollout of MNsure, our state health insurance exchange, following the successful implementation of the Affordable Care Act, was a heartening, positive step toward making affordable health care available to all Minnesotans. But there is still much work to do. As we advance this most important initiative in Minnesota, the program will undergo scrutiny, debate, revision and refinement in the coming months and years. That’s to be expected, of course, because there are few issues today, on either a national or state level, that are as complex as our health care systems.
Jen Schultz, a candidate for the District 7A Minnesota House seat in the upcoming election, understands those complexities. She is an economist specializing in health care issues and an educator specializing in health care management. For nearly two decades she has worked on health care reform, and I am confident her leadership on that issue will be invaluable to all Minnesotans.
I feel just as confident that Schultz’s positions on many other issues facing Minnesotans — economic justice, education, and the environment, to name a few — assure that she will work in our Legislature for programs and policies that benefit all Minnesotans.
