Reader's view: Gravel Lakewalk near condos makes sense
Duluth City Councilor Joel Sipress’ suggestion for a less-costly pedestrian public access as part of a Lakewalk extension near 20th Avenue East makes perfect sense and is an idea I love (“Estimated cost revealed for proposed Lakewalk section,” March 26).
I really like the gravel path near the Ledges townhomes, which was built by citizens above the rocks on the lakeside, and I would be happy to work on a similar path by Beacon Pointe. A bike lane could be designated on Water Street and runners could use the existing sidewalk, the bike lane or the path. I look forward to the cost estimates on this option and further discussion by the City Council. I’m thankful to Councilor Sipress for the creative and inexpensive suggestion.
