Reader's view: Don’t sell off a beautiful local resource
The Duluth City Council deciding to close Lester Park Golf Course would be something like Congress selling off one of our national parks. A beautiful resource would be lost forever. The east end of Duluth would lose its only public golf course, which also includes a popular summer youth program (“City ponders golf course changes, including possible Lester Park sale,” June 11).
In years to come the citizens of a growing Duluth may look back in sadness and bewilderment at such a decision. So come on, City Council members, getting rid of Lester Park Golf Course is a really bad idea. There are solutions out there. Explore them; use them.
