Reader's view: Courtesy needed when passing on boardwalk
As an avid walker along many portions of Duluth’s boardwalk system, I am struck (no pun intended) by the number of people on bikes and skateboards who forget to say, “Passing on your left,” as they quickly and often unexpectedly whiz by. I make a point to thank those who do.
On a positive note, there have been several times when young children with a mom or dad present have said this, and I always respond with a smile and a thank you. What great lessons to teach children concerning safety, courtesy and mutual respect.
