Our view: Blue bridge fixed?
At the risk of jinxing things, today’s top editorial points out that the little blue pedestrian bridge between the DECC and Canal Park
hasn’t had to be closed for major repairs yet this spring, something that seems to happen at least once every year.
“I think the new cabling that we installed last year has helped,” Mayor Don Ness said as the Greater Downtown Council’s featured speaker last week. “We are looking at doing some engineering studies on whether or not replacing the decking with lighter decking could also help.”
Taxpayers footing the bills for the seemingly constant repairs to the bridge hope for — and certainly deserve — a permanent fix.
