One injured in Highway 53 crash in Douglas County
A South Range man was injured in a two-vehicle collision Saturday on U.S. Highway 53 in Douglas County.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office reported that the crash at the intersection of Highway 53 and County Highway Y in Gordon happened just after 2:30 p.m. A 1990 Chrysler New Yorker driven by Robert Lewis, 57, of South Range was traveling north on Highway 53 in the construction zone in that area when it was struck by a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Jesse Severin, 33, of Superior. Severin was traveling eastbound on Highway Y when he pulled out from the stop sign and struck Lewis' car, authorities said.
Lewis was transported to a local hospital by Gordon-Wascott Ambulance Service. There was no immediate word on his condition.
The Gordon Volunteer Fire Department also assisted at the crash scene.
