New Scenic Café releases cookbook

The New Scenic Café, just north of Duluth, is marking its 15th anniversary in April with the release of its first cookbook.

The small café, launched by Scott Graden and Rita Bergstedt in 1999, has become a popular stop along the North Shore between Duluth and Two Harbors with its unique and healthy menus.

Today, Graden, a chef, is the sole owner.

The anniversary will be marked with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and reception at 3 p.m. April 7 that’s open to the public. In conjunction with the anniversary, a cookbook, “New Scenic Café —  The Cookbook” will be released in April. The cookbook is a reflection of the café, which features contemporary American cuisine influenced by cultures and the changing seasons. It contains nearly 130 recipes and more than 200 photographs by Graden.

The cookbook, which is fabric hardcover-bound, contains forewords by Garrison Keillor and poet Louis Jenkins. It costs $50 and will be available at the café and through its website, newsceniccafe.com.
