Monday accident victim was Duluth resident

Authorities have released the name of a Duluth man killed Monday in a traffic accident at U.S. Highway 53 and Solway Road in Canosia Township.

Donald B. Anderson, 72, was killed when the Ford Escape he was a passenger in was hit broadside by a semitrailer.

The collision occurred shortly after 5 p.m. when the Escape , driven by Delores M. Anderson, 71, stopped at a median stop sign, then pulled out in front of the semi and was hit, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Donald Anderson was pronounced dead at the scene. Delores Anderson was taken to St. Mary's Medical Center, where she was treated for minor injuries. The truck driver, Randall R. Long, 56, of Gadsden, Ala., wasn't injured.
