Miles David Johnson

Miles David Johnson, 89, of Duluth, passed away July 11, 2014, in Solvay Hospice House in Duluth.

Miles was born May 4, 1925, in Jackson, Minn., to Carl and Grace Johnson. Miles loved God, country and family. He attended and graduated from Jackson High School. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II as a pharmacist's mate first class and was honorably discharged in April 1946. Miles served in the reserves as hospital corpsman first class. He attended the University of Minnesota, graduating with a bachelor's degree in business. He married Elaine Joyce Kiecker Dec. 22, 1951, in Grace Lutheran Church in Lake Lillian, Minn. Miles and Elaine moved to Duluth in 1952.

Miles was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Duluth as a deacon and elder. He was also a counselor for many years at Bethel Bible Camp in Wisconsin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son Mark; and brother Rodney.

Miles is survived by his loving wife, Elaine; daughter Chari (Kevin) McBride of Alborn; son Ross (Pam) of Greenfield; grandchildren Matthew, Christopher, Kelly (Alan), Madison and Taylor; and great-grandchildren Lucie and Charlotte.

VISITATION: 1 until the 2 p.m. memorial service Saturday, July 19, in First Presbyterian Church, 300 E. Second St., Duluth, with Rev. John Pressler officiating. Interment will be at Park Hill Cemetery.
