Memorable Moment: Mootz, Vanderwerff engagement
Krystle Mootz and Bradly Vanderwerff, both of Duluth, plan to be married Sept. 27 at Spirit Mountain in Duluth.
Her parents are Wendy Ringler of Watford City, N.D., and Robert Mootz Jr. of Bemidji. His parents are Dawn and Virgil Vanderwerff of Cloquet.
The future bride, a 2005 graduate of Cromwell-Wright Public School in Cromwell, graduated in 2012 from the University of Wisconsin-Superior with a bachelor's degree in social services and is pursuing a master's degree in project management from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth. She is a financial coordinator for Fresenius Medical Care in Duluth.
The future groom graduated from Barnum High School in 2005. He is a store manager for Pro Image Sports in Miller Hill Mall in Duluth.
Krystle and Brad met while working at Wal-Mart in Cloquet in 2007 and began dating in 2008. On June 17, 2012, Brad took Krystle on a surprise "date day." She had no clue where or what they were doing.
Their day was planned with breakfast at Duluth Grill, a tour of Glensheen Mansion, shopping at the mall, a sightseeing cruise on the Vista Fleet, lunch at Little Angie's, a helicopter ride over Jay Cooke State Park, the Alpine Coaster ride at Spirit Mountain, miniature golfing in Cloquet and finally ending at Wal-Mart in Cloquet to supposedly look at dressers. Instead Brad proposed to Krystle in the furniture department, where they first met.
