MARGARET LOUISE LEPPI
Margaret Louise Leppi, 71, of Moose Lake, died Monday, July 21, 2014 in Inter-Faith Care Center, Carlton after a short courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born in 1943 in Cloquet, the daughter of Art and Ruth Pettit. Margaret was a 1961 graduate of Carlton High School.
Margaret married Willard Leppi on Dec. 2, 1961 in Cloquet. After Willards death in 1995, Margaret and Ron Hillstrom were united in a commitment service on April 4, 1999.
She was employed as a bakery department clerk at Spies Grocery Store in the 1970s to early 80s. Margaret was then employed as a custodian for Stearns Manufacturing from 1987 to 1997. After leaving Stearns, she worked as a beverage server at Black Bear Casino. She enjoyed her time with family and friends and her grand dog, Max. Margaret was an outdoor enthusiast. She enjoyed swimming, walking, cross-country skiing, and working in her flower garden. Margaret loved music and going to the theater. She had season tickets to many theaters throughout Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Art and Ruth; husband, Willard; brothers-in-law, Alvin Aho, Clifford Leppi and Bud Shipley; sisters-in-law, Anita Shipley and Ruth Leppi; nieces, Wendy Shipley and Gail Leafe; and mother and father-in-law, Alfred and Olga Leppi.
Margaret is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and David Manisto of Cloquet; grand dog, Max; her loving partner of 16 years, Ron Hillstrom of Moose Lake; sisters, Hilde (Darold) Powers of Carlton and Katha Aho of Moose Lake; brother-in-law, Archie (Doris) Leppi of Carlton; step-children, Maury (Mandy) Hillstrom of Lomita, CA and Michael Hillstrom of Woodstock, IL; many nieces and nephews and three step-grandchildren, James, Allen, and Aileen Hillstrom.
