Lowell H. Clauson, Sr., 86, longtime resident of Duluth, peacefully went to be with his Lord, Tuesday, April 1, 2014 while at Golden Oaks Assisted Living, Proctor.

He was born June 1, 1927 in Duluth to Hilding and Ruth Clauson.

Lowell graduated from Morgan Park High School.

He was a "Frogman" in the U.S. Navy serving during World War II. On Sept. 23, 1948 Lowell married Mary Jane Hall. After several years of service, he retired from Independent School District No. 709 in 1990.

Lowell was an avid fisherman. He loved fishing, especially with his son, Butch on Fish Lake. Lowell also loved to golf and made two holes in one at Pike Lake Auto Club.

Lowell was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary; a great-grandson, Forrest; and his parents.

A loving husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by his children, Laura (Richard) Peterson of Duluth, Lowell Jr., (Sandra) of Virginia, and Lynn Madaus of Fargo, N.D.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff of Golden Oaks, Lowell's granddaughter, Dana and friend, Corrine Forrestal for all the loving care given to Lowell.

GATHERING OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS: 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. memorial service Saturday, April 12, in Faith Baptist Church, 5693 Maple Grove Road, Hermantown. Arrangements entrusted to Cremation Society of Minnesota, 624-5200.
