LOIS MAE ROMANOSKI
Lois Mae Romanoski, 81, Moose Lake, died Sunday, July 20, 2014 in Augustana Mercy Health Care Center, Moose Lake.
She was born on January 2, 1933 in Kettle River to Arnie and Mayme Ronkainen. Lois grew up in Kettle River and also in Max, Minn where her family logged and lived in lumber camps. She attended school in Kettle River, Max, and later in Moose Lake where she graduated in 1950. Lois attained her Teaching Degree at St. Cloud Teachers College and later while working as a teacher attended UMD and completed her Bachelor's Degree from UWS. Lois taught school in Siren, Wis, Gilbert, Sturgeon Lake, and Moose Lake during her career. Lois married Frank E. Romanoski on Aug. 20, 1955 in Duluth. They had lived in Sturgeon Lake on the family farm prior to moving to Moose Lake in 1965. Lois and Frank owned the Hamburger Hut in Moose Lake for 10 years in the late 70's and early 80's. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church and had also attended Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in her early years where she was baptized and confirmed. Lois began golfing at the Moose Lake Golf Course and was one of the forerunners of its Women's League. She was an excellent seamstress, liked weaving rugs, and was very proud of her Finnish heritage.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Frank in 2013; and brothers, Jerry Ronkainen and Carl Ronkainen.
She will be lovingly remembered by her three children, Tom (Betty) of St. Cloud, Lori (Jay) Schraan of Upland, Calif, and Bob "Mouse" of Randolph; grandson, Clay Romanoski; sister, Karen (Marlin) Lund of Cloquet; brother, John (Loretta) Raiha of Cloquet; and sister-in-law, Laverne Ronkainen of Cloquet.
A MEMORIAL VISITATION: 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2014 in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake and continue from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service Thursday, July 24, 2014 in Hope Lutheran Church, Moose Lake. Private inurnment will be in Holy Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Kettle River.
