Twin Cities Marathon reaches capacity
The Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon closed registration Wednesday with a capacity field of 12,200 for the Oct. 5 race, which runs from downtown Minneapolis to the state capitol in St. Paul.
Runners from all 50 states, plus the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Canada, Mexico and 21 other countries are signed up. It’s the 28th consecutive year that Minnesota’s largest marathon has sold out.
Those still hoping to take part can try their luck at the race’s fundraiser entry program. For the registration price of $130, along with a $100 tax-deductible donation, the first 175 entries will be admitted into the 33rd running of the Twin Cities Marathon.
Nick Arciniaga of Flagstaff, Ariz., who finished ninth at last month’s Grandma’s Marathon, is the defending Twin Cities champ.
