LLOYD F. CURRIE JR
Lloyd F. Currie, Jr. went home to his Maker on March 27, 2014 after a lengthy illness in Ft. Myers, Fla.
He was born in Duluth, to Lloyd F. Currie Sr. and Millie (Lowe) Currie on April 30, 1924.
Lloyd graduated from Duluth Central High School in 1942. He played hockey and the cello in the Central Orchestra. After graduation, Lloyd enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and soon after accepted a Commission in the Marine Air Corps. as a pilot.
He served during World War II in The Philippines and China. He flew over 180 missions and was awarded three Distinguished Flying Crosses and 17 Air Medals. Lloyd's military career included combat service in the Korean War and service in the Marine Reserves until 1964 attaining the rank of Major.
Lloyd was a 32nd Degree Grand Mason, a Shriner, and a 50 year member of Grand Lodge of Minnesota. He lived in Duluth until his retirement in 1976 as the owner of Lloyd Currie and Sons Wholesaling Company. Lloyd and his wife Lois Lee moved to Ft. Myers, Fla., in 1976.
Lloyd is survived by his wife Lois Lee Madison Currie; five daughters, Millie, Sally, Nancy, Terry, and Tammy; one son Jaime; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
