UPDATE: Gridlock in Superior as evacuations ordered

Light snow, freezing drizzle possible in Northland overnight

A wintry mix of precipitation is forecast to fall in the Northland overnight, with a few inches of snow possible in the north and some freezing drizzle possible in the south.

The National Weather Service in Duluth has issued a winter weather advisory for the entire region through 9 a.m. Friday.

Snow accumulations will range from 1 to 3 inches near the Canadian border, to an inch or less for Duluth and points south, the Weather Service reported. Patchy freezing drizzle is possible along and south of the U.S. Highway 2 corridor, including the Twin Ports.

Anyone heading out on the roads in the Northland overnight and early Friday morning should watch out for slippery driving conditions.
