LeRoy G. Thompson, 84, of Cloquet, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Inter-Faith Care Center in Carlton.

He was born Oct. 15, 1929 in Turtle Lake, Wis., to Albert and Ellen (Aro) Thompson.

LeRoy was united in marriage to Genevieve Grover on Jan. 12, 1950 in Minneapolis. He farmed in the Foxboro, Wis., area prior to serving in the U.S. Army. After the military, LeRoy moved to Wrenshall and worked for Wood Conversion, Potlatch Corp. and Transport Inc. He also helped his son with the construction of four houses; and enjoyed woodworking.

LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Steven; and one brother, Donald.

He is survived by his wife, Genevieve; two sons, Dennis and Gerald (Mary Kay) Thompson; three daughters, Linda (Patrick) LaVoy, Bonnie (Steven) Monfeldt and Brenda Martin; three brothers, Arthur (Marcella), Stanley, and Rodney (Charlene) Thompson; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

VISITATION: 10 a.m. Monday, June 16, 2014 until the 12 Noon funeral service in Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet, followed with Military Honors presented by the Cloquet Combined Honor Guard. A luncheon will be held in the fellowship room, prior to the interment service at Hillside Cemetery in Carlton. See the family online guest book at
