Lawrence "Sonny" Pervenanze
Lawrence "Sonny" Pervenanze, 88, of Buhl, died Friday, April 25, 2014, in Cornerstone Villa in Buhl.
Lawrence Robert Pervenanze was born May 6, 1925, in Buhl, to Lawrence G. and Ethel (Hoskings) Pervenanze. Sonny graduated from Martin Hughes High School in 1944 and went on to complete a two year program for mechanics at Hibbing Vo-Tech. He spent a few years working at the Oliver Mine outside of Chisholm before joining his father and brother Richard "Dick" at Buhl Motor Service as a service tech and salesman. He continued working at the family business until he retired in 1992.
Sonny was united in marriage Nov. 3, 1956, to Anna Marie Erickson. They had their first child, David, in 1958, followed by three more sons and a daughter: James, Kenneth, Larry and Cindy. After retirement, Sonny was active in his church and community as well as chairman of BEDA for numerous years.
He was a member of Our Lady of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus for more than 50 years. He was also a member of the Buhl Moose Club and Buhl/Kinney Senior Center.
In his younger days, Sonny enjoyed sports, including curling, and in his later years he enjoyed watching his children in sporting and musical events. Sonny and Anna spent a lot of time enjoying their grandchildren but most enjoyed watching them play football, baseball and basketball (Sonny was an alternate for the 1941-1942 Martin Hughes High School State Boys Basketball Team so it has always been a love of his). He was an avid Chisholm basketball fan "but don't tell the Buhl fans." His dog, Brandy, was his constant companion.
Sonny loved his family and friends deeply and was always there for them.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Ethel; wife Anna; and brother Richard.
Sonny is survived by his children, David Pervenanze, James (Patty) Pervenanze, Kenneth Pervenanze, Cindy Pervenanze and Larry (Cena) Pervenanze; grandchildren Ryan and Brad Pervenanze; sisters-in-law Marie Pervenanze and Emma Dolinar; nieces and nephews Terry (Dick) Danielson, Mary Pervenanze, Andy (Pam) Pervenanze, Janet Hjelmeland, Dennis (Leslie) Dolinar, Kathy (Bill) Porter, Roy Glanville and Billy (Joan) Glanville; and other cousins, step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
VISITATION: 9:30 until the 11 a.m. funeral service with a 10:30 a.m. Rosary by the Knights of Columbus Tuesday, April 29, in Our Lady of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Buhl. Fr. Fred Method will officiate.
