HAMSMITH

Larry "Moe" Hamsmith, 55, of Cloquet, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2014.

He was born Feb. 19, 1959 in Chicago, Ill., to Donald and Phyllis Hamsmith, and graduated from Proctor High School in 1977. Larry moved to Colorado in 1980 with his fiance Claire Butenhoff, and they were united in marriage June 4, 1981. Larry and family moved back to the Cloquet area in 1990 to be closer to family.

Larry worked as a drywall/painter and most recently was employed with Hospitality Investments in Hermantown as a professional painter. He touched many lives, filled many cracks and painted thousands of miles of doors and walls. Larry's hobbies included camping, sitting in the sun, waxing of his cars "wax on wax off" but most of all, he liked to chill with his family.

Larry was preceded in death by all grandparents, mother Phyllis, brother David and brother-in-law John Engman.

He is survived by his wife Claire; son Joshua (Autumn); daughter Kaylee; father Donald Hamsmith Sr. (Patti), brothers Donald Jr. (Sheila) and Jeffery (Connie); sister Donna Engman; granddaughter Isabelle; and numerous nieces and nephews, and best friend Kevin Eld.

VISITATION: 10 a.m. Monday, April 7, 2014 until the 11 a.m. memorial service at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet, followed by a luncheon in the fellowship room. See the family online guest book at www.nelsonfuneralcare.net
