Just more than 200 homes remain without power
A couple hundred customers remained without power in the Northland late Thursday, down from more than 20,000 in the immediate aftermath of severe storms that swept across the region late Monday and early Tuesday.
Lake Country Power reported 165 customers without service as of 7:30 p.m., with scattered outages centered in the Eveleth, Babbitt and Big Sandy Lake areas.
Crews have had to replace broken poles, restring broken lines and remove downed trees and debris from roadways and rights of way after wind gusts of 70 mph caused widespread damage in the region. Lake Country Power reported that some scattered outages might not be resolved until today.
Meanwhile, Minnesota Power reported about 36 customers without electricity as of Thursday evening.
