John David Meyer, 71, of Duluth, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2014.

John was born in Duluth to Raymond and Agnes Meyer on March 24, 1943. He graduated from Cathedral High School in 1961 and from UMD with a bachelor's degree in accounting in 1964. He worked for Price Waterhouse in Chicago, Ill., while obtaining his CPA license in 1966. He returned to Duluth in 1967 and worked for Main Lafrentz until opening his own firm from where he retired.

John enjoyed tinkering in the garage, spending time with family, exercising, and walking his dog, Riley.

John's gentle guidance and special sense of humor will be deeply missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Agnes, and son Ross.

John is survived by his partner, Ellen Ramsay; daughter Sue Meyer (Kevin Peterson); son Scott (Holly) Meyer; Ellen's children, Lisa (Craig) Wilson, Kimberly (Wade) Stromgren and Dane (Marisa) Ramsay; sister Kathie (Robert) Dybdal; seven grandchildren; his faithful companion, Riley; and many other family and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff of Miller Dwan and Ecumen Rehab for their recent care and guidance.

VISITATION: 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, in the Dougherty Funeral Home, and 10 until the 11 a.m. service Thursday, May 1, in the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 1325 N. 45th Ave. E., Duluth, MN 55804.
