James "Jim" Wayne Martin passed away April 20, 2014 surrounded by his loving family at home in Superior, Wis.

James was born July 4, 1939 to Lillian and Harold Martin Sr., in Cuba, Ohio.

He graduated from Martinsville Ohio High School in 1957 and just a month later he attended the District Convention of Jehovah's Witnesses in Milwaukee, where he met his future wife Gayle Dow, whom he married on July 16, 1960. They were married 52 years. They were the proud parents to one son, Shawn James.

For many years Jim served the Superior Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses as an elder. His relationship with Jehovah God and assisting his brothers and sisters in the congregation was his life's work. In addition, Jim worked at a number of jobs over the years that he also truly enjoyed. He worked at Russell Creamery for 17 years; he was co-owner of The Carpet Cleaners and owner of Arrow Cleaning Systems for 27 years, he sold real estate for Century 21, and drove truck for Halvor Lines in later years.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Martin Sr., and Lillian Martin (Leininger); his sister Sarah Messerer, and his beloved wife Gayle in 2012.

He is survived by his son Shawn and daughter-in-law, Lynetta Martin (Smith); grandsons James I. Martin and Noah Martin all of Superior, grandson Jonathan Martin, Patterson, N.Y.; and brothers Harold Martin Jr. of Superior, and John Martin of Melbourne, Fla., as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014 in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 7815 Tower Avenue, with a talk to be given by James Abbott.
