Items stolen, returned to public defender’s office in Rochester
ROCHESTER, Minn. — Rochester police continue to investigate the burglary of the public defender’s office of the 3rd Judicial District — despite the fact that the items were returned the next day.
The incident reportedly occurred overnight Tuesday. Wednesday morning, a man returned the stolen computer equipment, saying an acquaintance of his showed up at his house with the items the night before, said Lt. Casey Moilanen.
The burglar apparently forced his way into the office through a stairwell door, the report says.
The man who returned the equipment told authorities he brought the things back because he’s trying to turn his life around. He didn’t reveal the identity of the alleged burglar, Moilanen said.
