Ikonics CEO to speak at West Duluth business luncheon
Ikonics Corp., an imaging technology company based in West Duluth, is planning some major expansions. And its CEO will be on hand at Wednesday’s luncheon meeting of the West Duluth Business Club to talk about it.
The luncheon is a monthly event open to the public.
Bill Ulland, who also serves as Ikonics chairman and president, will be on hand to discuss the company’s investment of $570,000 for more automated equipment to increase its composite machining capabilities at its plant in Duluth’s Morgan Park. The company also is weighing if and where — Duluth or elsewhere — to build a second manufacturing plant to meet the expected increase in demand for its aerospace products. If built, the 30,000-square-foot plant is expected to cost $8 million.
Ulland, who has been at the helm of Ikonics since 2000, was named Business Person of the Year at the 2012 Labovitz Entrepreneurial Success Awards, the same year Ikonics received the small business Innovation Award.
The luncheon will begin at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in the banquet room of Mr. D’s Bar & Grill, 5622 Grand Ave. Cost is the cost of lunch off the menu. To reserve a spot, email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
