Huskies roll to 12-2 rout over Alexandria
Austin Darby’s two-run double in the eighth inning helped the Duluth Huskies rally for a 12-2 victory over the Alexandria Blue Anchors on Saturday at Knute Nelson Memorial Park in Alexandria, Minn.
Trailing 2-0, the Huskies exploded for seven runs in the eighth, taking advantage of two Blue Anchors’ errors while collecting five hits. They tacked another five insurance runs on in the ninth.
Darby, Michael Tinsley and Austin Christensen all had two hits apiece for Duluth (15-14).
Jeremy Hyde and Ben Allen had two hits apiece to lead Alexandria (11-20).
The Huskies, however, weren’t able to make up ground on North Division second-half leader Willmar (21-14), a 7-6 winner over Mankato on Saturday.
Duluth and Alexandria rematch at 1:05 p.m. today at Knute Nelson Memorial Park.
