The Senior Linkage Line seeks volunteer health insurance counselors to assist seniors and help individuals make informed decisions about Medicare and other health insurance coverage, complete necessary forms and connect them with available resources. Volunteers should have compassion for seniors and be willing to work with a wide range of people. You will attend an initial 18-hour training to become certified as a state health insurance program counselor. After the training Senior Linkage Line seeks a one-year minimum time commitment to the program and four hours of service per month as needed.

Learn about domestic violence and help women and children in domestic violence situations seeking support at Safe Haven. Volunteers are needed to provide child care and activities for children; complete intake paperwork with clients and schedule appointments with service providers; and to serve as receptionist and answer the telephone and provide support for staff and clients. A two-hour commitment between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday is required.

CASDA seeks volunteers to help provide supportive services to people hurt by domestic violence, sexual assault or child abuse. Volunteer opportunities include child care, front office support, client transportation (mileage paid) and on-call hospital advocacy. The Lake Superior Squadron 101 of the Commemorative Air Force seeks volunteers to help at the Armed Forces Museum. The Squadron is located in Hangar 101 of the old Duluth Air Base at 4931 Airport Road in Hermantown.

Volunteers can be anyone with prior military service who are looking for an opportunity to volunteer, retired airline airframe and powerplant mechanics or retired U.S. Air Force or other military aviation maintenance technicians, those interested in preserving history and anyone interested in helping to restore a World War II Consolidated PBY Catalina.
