  • ReStore volunteer: Like shopping? Fixing things? Hanging out in the hardware aisle? Combine your passions into a volunteer position at Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore. Volunteers do everything from running the cash register to accepting, sorting and pricing donations to making minor repairs to donated materials. Volunteer shifts are available Thursday through Saturday.
  • Headquarters assistant: Volunteers are needed from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays to process, sort and organize donations; build and repair displays; and much more.
  • Weekday work crew: Skilled men and women with building experience are needed at worksites from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursdays. Opportunities are different each day and with each project, and are also dependent on the weather. Projects could include building stairs, roofing, putting in windows, siding and more.

ARROWHEAD RSVP – AEOA Retired and Senior Volunteer Program is recruiting volunteers 55 and older to fill the following positions. Call (218) 409-5991 for more information.

  • Bone Builders: Class leaders are needed for Bone Builders, a weight training program that prevents and reverses osteoporosis by increasing muscular strength and bone density. Other benefits include improved balance, enhanced energy and well-being and increased opportunities for socialization. Bone Builders groups meet twice weekly. Training is provided.
  • Activity helper: Lincoln Park Community Senior Center seeks friendly and outgoing volunteers to assist the coordinator in providing activities for guests. Responsibilities include distribution of food items for Nutrition Assistance Program for Seniors, scheduling appointments, making popcorn and coffee, light cleaning, and creating a warm and welcoming environment. Volunteers must have good people and phone skills.
  • St. Scholastica Monastery: Volunteers are needed to work in a variety of different positions such as the gift shop, front desk and driving. Volunteers must have good people skills.

FOSTER GRANDPARENT PROGRAM The Foster Grandparent Program is recruiting volunteers to serve as tutors and mentors in the Duluth/Superior/Cloquet areas at public and parochial schools. Foster Grandparents do a variety of activities with children from helping with homework, teaching to read, one-on-one tutoring, and guiding children at critical times in their lives. Volunteers who serve also assist with literacy and math skills, social and emotional skills, and act as mentors.

Foster Grandparent Program volunteers are men and women who must be 55 years or older and volunteer between 15 to 40 hours per week. They receive a small, tax-free stipend, transportation assistance, training, vacation and sick leave, recognition, social activities, and the satisfaction of knowing that they’ve made a difference in the life of a child.
