Gordon Bruce Wedin
Gordon Bruce Wedin, 65, of Duluth, passed away April 3, 2014, in his residence, after a brief illness.
Gordy was born Oct. 14, 1948, in Ft. Knox, Ky. He attended and graduated from Denfeld High School in Duluth in 1967. In May of 1968 Gordy entered the United States Marines Corps and served his country as a Corporal in the Viet Nam War receiving multiple medals. He received an honorable discharge in February of 1970 and was placed in Individual Ready Reserve (IRR) until his enlistment ended. When he got out of the service, he was employed as a local freight truck driver. He also worked for the Duluth Transit Authority driving buses.
On March 25, 1972, he married Carol Suojanen at the Lutheran Church of Holy Trinity in Duluth. Gordy loved music, playing pool and would sing karaoke every chance he got. Family and friends meant the world to him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol; his mother, Cora Shamka; brother William "Billy" Berg; and brother-in-law Jim Suojanen.
Gordy is survived by his daughter, Tawnya Wedin of Duluth; son Gordon William Wedin of Duluth; two grandsons; sisters Norma (James) Waller of Duluth, Lynn Roehl of Cloquet and Brenda Bougie of Surprise, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews.
VISITATION: 1 until the 2 p.m. funeral service Tuesday, April 8, in Bell Brothers Funeral Home, 601 N. 56th Ave. W., Duluth, with Ron Rodriguez speaking. Military Honors will be accorded by the Duluth Honor Guard. Interment will be at Oneota Cemetery.
