Gogebic Taconite meetings set
Gogebic Taconite representatives have scheduled a series of meetings across Iron and Ashland counties in Wisconsin today to speak "one-on-one with citizens'' and address questions about the company's proposed taconite iron ore mine and processing center.
Company officials say they already have held more than 30 meetings and spoken with more than 100 citizens in similar meetings. They said the one-on-one format allows citizens who may be uncomfortable with the public hearing format to ask questions.
The meetings are set for 7-8:15 a.m. at Schienebeck's Shanty, Butternut;
9:15-10:30 a.m. in the Vaughn Library, Ashland; 12:30-1:45 p.m. in Joany's Sidekicks, Iron Belt; 2:45-4 p.m. at the Gogebic Taconite office, Hurley; 5-6:15 p.m. in the Subway restaurant in Mercer.
