Gerald R. Vork, 81 of Carlton, passed away Monday, March 24, 2014 at Inter-Faith Care Center in Carlton.

He was born March 19, 1933 in Sandstone to James and Edna (Gustafson) Vork.

Gerry served in the U.S. Army during the Korea War era. He moved to the Carlton area in 1959 and worked for the Conwed Corporation in Cloquet until 1985. Gerry also operated an auto repair shop in Carlton for many years, worked as a truck mechanic in Duluth, and also worked for his son, Wes Vork, at the Cloquet Hardware Hank.

Gerry was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Ruth; second wife, Patricia; and a special companion, Lorraine Amsler; two infant daughters, Sandra and Linda; and two brothers, Earl and Charles Vork.

He is survived by his significant companion, Nancy Frehse and her family; one daughter, Vickie Nesje; three sons, Wesley (Becky) Vork, Robert (Brenda) Vork, and Joe Vork; daughter-in-law, Jill Vork; one brother, Kenneth (Lorene) Vork; two sisters, Delores Anderson and Kathy (Jim) Magnuson; nine grandchildren, Lisa, Michael, Sara, Sean, Craig, Matthew, Christopher, Jes, and Jonica; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, "Teddy".

VISITATION: 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 27, 2014 in Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet. The visitation will resume on Friday, March 28, 2014 from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service, also in Nelson Funeral Care. The service will include Military Honors presented by the Cloquet Combines Honor Guard. A luncheon will follow in the fellowship room. See the family online guest book at
