Gary William Reed, 62, died unexpectedly Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Essentia Health, after a brief illness.

He was born on Dec. 8, 1951, in Superior to Lester and Jane Reed.

Gary was a 1970 graduate of Superior Senior High School and attended the University of Wisconsin, Superior. He and his wife owned Reed Graphics for over 20 years.

Gary was active in the Superior Curling Club, the Democratic Party, a nine year board member of the Board of Trustees at the Douglas County Historical Society and volunteered at the Phantom Gallery, Superior. He was active in Rotary, Habitat for Humanity, Superior Public Library and the Boys and Girls Club of Superior. Gary was also a member of the local painters union.

Gary was a highly creative artist and a talented musician. He played in numerous rock bands. Playing with Android was one of his fondest memories. Music was a great part of Gary's life, as was performing on and off stage for family and friends.

He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone. He touched a lot of people with his wit, charm and comedy. If there is one thing you remember about Gary Reed, it is that he made you laugh, and not just a chuckle but a real belly laugh.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his spouse, Kelly; son Adam Reed; a grandson, Gaige all of Superior; brothers, Mark (Ann) of Arizona, and Scott of Superior; sisters, Leslie (Dave) Johnson and Sharon Bergstrom all of Superior.
