Friday's weather for Duluth and the Northland: Scattered storms; cooler by the lake
TODAY: The trough that's been bringing us a scattered storm or two in the afternoon hours for the past week will continue to flow aloft over the Northland. This will give us a 30 percent chance of scattered storms, mainly south of the Twin Ports in the afternoon hours. Highs will be in the upper 70s. The wind is rather weak, so I expect a northeast wind off the lake making temperatures about 10 degrees lower by the lake.
SATURDAY: The trough and low will move east and we will have a small weak ridge keeping us dry and warm. Lows will be near 52 and highs will be near 79 with partly cloudy skies.
SUNDAY: A small wave in the jet stream and a weak cold front will push in, giving us a 30 percent chance of afternoon storms. Lows will be in the upper 50s and highs in the mid-70s.
MONDAY: Skies will be partly cloudy, with lows in the mid-50s, highs near 73 and a 20 percent chance of isolated storms.
